Pastor Sam Zumwalt, szumwalt@bellsouth.net
, 791-4582 x200. Pastor Sam works full-time as the congregation's Senior
Pastor. In addition to his primary work as chief preacher (4 weekly
services) and teacher (5 weekly classes) and supervisor of staff and
partner in ministry with lay leaders, Pastor Sam routinely makes hospital
visits, has appointments for pastoral conversations in offices,
restaurants, and homes, and is available for crisis ministry. Typically, a
non-emergency appointment can be scheduled within a few days or sooner.
Pastor Sam's day off is on Friday.
Pastor Dale Kemppainen, djkemp@bellsouth.net,
791-4582 x201. Pastor Dale works part-time in the area of senior ministry
from September through May,
visiting 7 or more households each week among our growing community of senior
members. As part of his work with seniors, Pastor Dale visits in
hospitals, nursing homes, private homes, and senior residential communities and
regularly administers Holy Communion to shut-ins. Typically, Pastor Dale
sees all of the seniors on his list within a 5-6 week rotation. To add
households to Pastor Dale's senior visitation list, please use the contact

If a person answers, tell them this is an emergency and ask them to page the
pastor. If the answering service picks up, please press "5" and
then leave a brief message including phone number and name and the nature of the
emergency. Someone will respond quickly to a medical emergency or crisis.
Please do not leave general messages on the emergency voice mailbox even if they
are important. Rather leave general messages on the personal staff voice
mailboxes or on the general voice mailbox.

the weekend worship bulletins or e-mail Pastor Sam szumwalt@bellsouth.net
Our St. Matthew's Prayer Group meets Tuesdays at 10 a.m. in the church library
and always prays for all the people on our prayer list. To join in
prayer with the group, just show up.
Be sure to let us know further progress particularly when your prayer concern
involves someone not part of St. Matthew's congregation and when that person
no longer needs to be included on the prayer list.
TO INFORM US REGARDING HOSPITALIZATIONS OR OUT-PATIENT SURGERIES
During normal business hours and/or if the answering service picks up, please leave
a message on a pastoral voice mailbox or inform Judy Clemmons stmattch@bellsouth.net
of hospitalizations or pending surgeries. Both a lay hospital visitor and
one or both pastors will typically see hospitalized patients. If
you have a pending surgery and want a pastoral visit prior to surgery, please
let Judy know OR use the pastoral contact information above.
TO ARRANGE FOR A STEPHEN MINISTER
If you think you might need a Stephen Minister or know someone who might have
such a need, please inform one of the pastors using the contact information
above. Stephen Ministers provide distinctively Christian care, one-on-one,
with hurting people experiencing grief and loss related to death, illness,
divorce, unemployment, etc. A trained Stephen Minister will be assigned
to a person of the same sex, typically for a period of several months on a
confidentail basis. Our Stephen Ministry leaders are Bethel Paris
(256-2377), Pat Mahl (256-4481) and Ana Marie Jackson.

RESOURCES FOR ALCOHOLISM
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at St. Matthew's on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 8
p.m. in McCombs Fellowship Hall.
If you or a family member struggles with alcoholism or substance abuse, please
use the pastoral contact information above to speak with a pastor about your
concerns or to get a referral for a 12-step call from a recovering alcoholic.
